  1. Date: 21 August 2013 Maserati Trofeo World Series - Sonoma (US) - Presentation of Round 4 The Maserati Trofeo lands in the United States The Maserati Trofeo MC World Series leaves European shores and lands in the United States almost a year since the series’ last visit. This time round the Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California, will host the fourth round of the 2013 championship. This weekend the Trofeo will be sharing the bill with the Indycar Series, one of the most popular open-wheel championships in the US. Belgian champion Renaud Kuppens leads the standings after the opening three rounds, held at Paul Ricard, Nuerburgring and Silverstone. Kuppens is going into this second half of the season hoping to add the world title to the Trofeo Europa he has already picked up. Following Sonoma, the series will move on to Shanghai (3 November) and Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates, for the gran finale on 14 December. Kuppens will be confident going into Sonoma. As well as the 2013 Trofeo Europa, he also holds the 2012 Overall title and claimed two wins out of three here last year. He sits on 139 points in the championship with Danish Mikkel Mac lying second with 99 points. In third is the Italian pairing of Cola/Gobbo (83 points) with Simoni/Ragazzi just a point down. The race

  2. format with two 30’ sprints and a 50’ endurance event (with a compulsory pit stop, driver change and handicap for the top five cars in the first two races) means that drivers have the chance to make up points. With so many points up for grabs, the action should be exciting right until the very last event. Sonoma will see a number of Americans appearing, all hoping to emulate compatriot Brian Wong’s Race 2 win at Silverstone. The US weekend will be extra special given the American fans’ love of Maserati and the marque’s famous victories on US soil. To mark Wilbur Shaw’s triumphs in the Indianapolis 500 in 1939 and 1940, up for grabs for the overall championship winner, or winners, is an exclusive Maserati 8CTF single-speed bicycle. The special bike boasts a nameplate and its own production number. It derives from the Maserati 8CTF Limited Edition of 200 examples produced by Montante Cicli. The www.maseraticorse.com website will be updated throughout the weekend with interviews, in-depth reports, videos and images.
