About ● What I got out of it was it talked about what new criticism was a literary style of the early 20th century utilized by a lot of poets that underwent a lot of criticism because of all the different structural forms and the fact that it was difficult to comprehend people came up with a lot of different interpretations when reading ● The article goes through different forms Of new critic literature and a lot of opposing views or criticisms to the new critic literature style
My opinion ● I like Blackmur's response that a piece of literature should stand alone and be able to explain itself. Unfortunately that gives new critics a platform to say anything almost anyway it seemed and have nothing to compare or substantiate it with. There was a lot of suppositions in in New Critics literature, in my opinion it ● was one person's eccentric view point after the next, hidden in a literary style that denied any accountability to conservative literary thought. ● I do not agree with some new critic philosophies that poetry should replace religion or science.
