Manufacturing Barometer: In Initial fi findings (r (responses fr from 600+ businesses) This quarter’s Manufacturing Barometer survey shows a reduction in volumes , potential job cuts , and confusion around Government support • 55% of SME manufacturers believe they will ill nee eed to o cu cut t job obs over the next six months • 86% of SME manufacturers have experienced a decr ecrease in in production volu olumes since the COVID-19 outbreak • Last quarter 51% anticipated an increase in capit ital exp xpenditure, this has now dropped to o 13% • 74% of manufacturers do not believe that the governmen ents ts support is sufficient, or are not sure what support is on offer to them as the situation is constantly changing • 84% req equire fin financia ial support, this has reduced by 2% over the last three weeks (source: initial findings analysed on 02.04.20) swmas.co.uk | 01278 767 010 | info@swmas.co.uk

Exe Sail ils, Topsham, Devon Sam Woolner of Exe Sails, Topsham Devon, has had his facility running flat-out to produce e PPE & Scr crubs For or The e NHS Exeter & Sou outh West. After initially producing gowns, scrubs and face masks for RD&E Hospital in Exeter, Sam is now getting additional enquiries from other SW Hospitals. Sam has arranged 150 ou outw tworkers. Each worker is supplied with correctly cut material to turn into the gowns. We’ve now produced over 200 of the latest design of face shield and are getting these distributed as fast as we can.
