  4.  Your freshman year is almost over!  We met with you individually in early March to finalize your sophomore course selections. We look forward to seeing you again at school.  During remote learning, we are still available to support you, it’s just that it will be virtually. Email us.  The gusd.net/cvhs website can answer most questions you or your parent may have. Link to Counseling. Resources, instructions, and forms are posted and updated on the website regularly.

  6. Grades and teacher comments are posted every five weeks on Q. ACADEMIC Check your student portal often and ask your teacher PROGRESS when you have questions or concerns. Semester grades will be posted on your transcript for credit towards your diploma and are the grades used to calculate your G.P.A.

  7. How to Calculate your G.P.A.  Convert each letter grade to their respective points (A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, F=0)  Add up all the grade points.  Divide the total number you added up, by the number of classes you took.  Note: Honors/AP classes earn an extra G.P.A. point. A=5, B=4, C=3 but Advanced English 9 does not earn an extra G.P.A. point. CALCULATING YOUR GRADE POINT AVERAGE

  11. THE IMPORTANCE Your feelings are important. The COVID19 pandemic makes us all feel OF BALANCE out of control. When you are overwhelmed, stressed, or anxious, everything becomes out of balance. You are juggling a lot. Relax – take deep breaths. Be Mindful – be aware and IN the moment. Get enough sleep, eat well, and exercise. Spend physically distanced time with friends and family – walk, bike, skate, phone, facetime, hangout, etc. Talk to your parents, friends, counselor – reach out for help. Think positive – positive self-talk really does help and is important to continue to do, especially during these highly unusual times.

  15.  Earn college credit while in high school by taking a college class.  Work on a program at college that is of interest to you while you are still a high school student. GCC  Take courses that transfer to a 4 Year university or college.
