IAP: Historical developments • Launched in 1993 as Inter Academy Panel • IAP, the Global Network of Science Academies comprised of 111 science academies till March 2016 • Has been receiving core funding from the Italian government • Hosted by TWAS, the academy of sciences for the developing world in Trieste, Italy • Primary goal: To help member academies work together to advise citizens and public officials on the scientific aspects of critical global issues.
