Compliment National Preparedness Month and Arizona Preparedness Month • Get Citizens and Businesses thinking about personal preparedness • Make them aware of various projects that the County is doing to help in • readiness and preparedness
The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) works with our local • government agencies to put on educational courses and presentations for personal preparedness (community meetings, safety fairs, etc.) OEM supports the creation of and existing Community Emergency Response • Teams (CERT) within the County Coordinate exercises that include non ‐ governmental organizations and • businesses along with public safety agencies
OEM began working with agencies such as United Way of Pinal County, Red • Cross, Salvation Army, Crisis Response Network, CERT and Faith ‐ based groups at the beginning of the year to create the COAD Humanitarian association of independent community organizations brought • together for more efficient and effective service to people affected by a disaster No public funds involved •
“Pinal Emergency Notification System” or PENS is a result of a U.S. Dep’t of • Homeland Security grant received by the County Allows blanketed or targeted notification to county citizens about emergency • or disaster incidents Citizens can sign up for their own personalized alerts and notifications via • landline, email or cell phone Will not send out unsolicited alerts, advertising or “robo ‐ calling” • Go to the County’s website for the link to sign up •
