CMAQ School Bus: Chicago Area Only Federal funding available from Illinois EPA for school buses in the Chicago area – Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry, Will counties and portions of Kendall and Grundy counties $5 million awarded for heaters and particulate filters to be installed on school buses $2.7 million still available thru 2017 Eligible buses for this fund include school district- owned, leased, and commercial school buses
CMAQ School Bus Match Requirements For School Districts and Schools that operate their school buses, NO MATCH for heaters or particulate filters (100% funded) For commercial school bus companies: No match required for particulate filters • 50% match required for heaters due to fuel savings • potential School buses are required to stay in service for 5 more years, or heaters stay with school district
Chicago Area Green Fleet Grant Program • Total of $10 Million in CMAQ awards focused on medium- and heavy-duty alternate fuel vehicles, some light-duty vehicles can be included • Propane and Natural Gas only • New Purchase or Conversion • Grant Program, not a rebate program – must be selected • Will offer grants for 50% of the extra cost of the alternate fuel vehicle, or 50% of conversion cost • Grant amount maximum is $10,000 per vehicle <14,000 GVWR and $20,000 per vehicle >14,000 GVWR • www.illinoisgreenfleets.org
Engine Repower Funding Federal funding available from Illinois EPA for engine repowers or upgrades in Chicago area and Statewide $2 Million CMAQ funding available for the Chicago area, and $253,464 in DERA funding available statewide For both funds, grants can be used for new or upgraded higher tier (cleaner) engines for off-road mobile equipment, such as construction, tug boats, cranes, ports, rail yards, etc. Match requirements differ – call IEPA or see www.illinoisgreenfleets.org.
