  2. Introduction ! Brazil is the second largest tobacco producer in the world ! Brazil is one of the world leaders in tobacco control legislation, and one of the first countries to introduce the health warnings on cigarette packs (CPHWs) ! However, little is known about the impact of these health warnings among women smokers ! The aim of this study was to examine the association between CPHWs and the intention to quit among women in a Southern state in Brazil where prevalence of smoking among women is one of the highest in the country

  4. Methods ! A population-based cross-sectional study among adult women in seven different towns in the state of Paraná, Brazil ! A cluster sampling approach by randomly selecting zip codes ! Face-to-face interviews using CAPI. ! The interview was adapted from the Global Adult Tobacco Survey ! The study sample comprised 2,153 women, approximately 300 participants/town. In our present analyses we included only daily cigarette smokers (265 subjects)

  7. Discussion ! CPHWs play an important role on intention to quit smoking among women - the tobacco companies increase their efforts to promote cigarette smoking among women. ! Larger impact of CPHWs in Brazil may be multi-faceted. ! CPHWs have a higher impact among less educated women as compared to women with high educational attainment. ! Differences in the impact of PHWCPs across towns.

  8. Conclusion ! The results demonstrate an important relationship between CPHWs and willing to quit smoking among women. !
