Culture & Climate: Progression of Leadership • 2016 – 2017 “Equity” and “Instructional Leadership” are separate teams • School-Wide professional focus on Zaretta Hammond’s Culturally Responsive Teaching and the Brain (deepening understanding and stereotypes) • 2017 – 2018 Continuation of separate teams but greater overlap in membership • Increased equity training through Beyond Diversity • Use of equity tools (working autobiographies, compass, conditions) • Completed first school-wide equity walk • 2018 – 2019 Single “Equity & Inclusion Team” formed, meeting twice -monthly • Student Voice workgroup (SOAR and student forums, repeating the student forum process with the focus on student learning rather than sense of belonging) • High Quality Instruction workgroup (focus on equity walks and high-quality instruction) Our vision is to affirm and inspire each and every student to learn and thrive as creators of their future world.

Culture & Climate: Student Voice • Student Voice workgroup analyzed data and the opportunity gaps that exist for Hispanic and black students. • Planned student forums: • Provide an opportunity to hear from students why Panorama survey data may be mismatched with academic achievement • Provide an opportunity to hear the narratives of why students feel connected and where is race plays a role Guiding question : Panorama is not showing a large gap within groups in sense of belonging.
