  4. In your own words, why are you running for the NCSEA Board? I am running for the Board because I love the child support program and want to continue to give back to the child support community. I have NCSEA executive experience, historical program knowledge and the demonstrated willingness to innovate. I believe all of these aspects are important to ensure that NCSEA evolves without forsaking the core mission of the child support program which is to lift families out of poverty through consistent child support payments. 4

  5. Describe what you will do to advance NCSEA as an organization Many national entities only know of child support through negative stories on the news or word of mouth. I believe this is mainly because we fail to properly engage or have dialogue with other programs, agencies, advocates, and the faith and community-based organizations. I would like to see NCSEA’s national profile raised among other governmental associations. I will work to have NCSEA representatives serve as speakers in national conferences and state conferences on a frequent basis (e.g., Medicaid, child welfare, SNAP, etc.). I believe it also time for the NCSEA President to begin to engage and work collaboratively with the presidents of the other national associations. 5

  6. Describe your vision on how you would help shape the future of child support Child support is a critical safety-net program for families. I believe that we can make child support collections a consistent reality for families by strategic utilization of automation, focusing on outcomes rather than tasks, properly training and developing our staff and allowing staff to treat each person/case individually as necessary. Education, training and advocacy are essential to shaping the future of child support. I have always readily shared my knowledge, experience and ideas with any level of child support professional, vendor and policy maker. I will continue to do this by attending multiple training conferences annually and serving as a speaker or moderator. If elected to the Board, I will stay abreast of issues in the child support community by speaking with professionals across the country. I will prepare for each board meeting by reading the provided material. I will urge the Board to be introspective and bold in its deliberations and decisions that are in keeping with NCSEA’s purpose and core values. I am confident that I can be helpful for moving our Association progressively into the future without sacrificing its effectiveness or vitality. 6
