European leadership through setting a 2025 target of 60g/km • There will be no need for manufacturers to deploy electric vehicles to achieve 95g • A more stringent, long-term target is needed to drive investment • By 2025 technology used to deliver fuel efficient US cars will be more advanced than typically used in Europe – “ Without strong regulation the car industry will not move at the right speed . ” Renault – It is “ absolutely true ” that European auto exports would not be able to compete with the US, if the fuel economy gap remained so wide.
