Student Attendance Data Student attendance data was reviewed from 2008-2009 to 2014-2015. Data trends are similar regardless of the start date of school. Our attendance starts at about 85% of projected enrollment and trends upward through mid-September on the CLC. On the traditional calendar attendance averaged about 90% of enrollment on day 1.
Staff Attendance Data Staff (teachers & support) attendance data was reviewed from 2011-2012 through 2015- 2016. 2015-2016 data showed less absences than previous years. No major differences were observed with the change in calendars. .
Impact on Operations • Utility Costs – An estimated $175,000 savings* per week can be achieved by pushing the start date back in August • Impact on HVAC Units - Operating HVAC equipment for shorter periods during peak demand season lengthens the lifespan of the equipment *Calculations provided by Cenergistics
Impact on Operations • School Nutrition Services – – Now that Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) has been implemented district-wide, the start date is not as critical. – There are 17 sites that have no air conditioning in their kitchens. • Athletics – The CLC poses issues with the 2 week fall break and spring break when other schools are in session and practices and games are ongoing.
