Potential business area for cooperation between Egypt and Japan What 2019 Means for both Egypt and Japan . For Egypt: • Egypt as the Chair of the African Union. • The Implementation of the last phase of the Economic Reform Program (Closing date is 11/2019 ) with the aim of achieving goals of the economic reform Program and the Sustainable Development Plan adopted by the Government from 2018 to 2022, aiming at raising the growth gradually to reach 8% in 2022 (This requires elevating the investment rate to about 25%, reduce the budget deficit to 5%, reducing trade deficit to 7.7% and the public debt to less than 80 % of GDP as well as a taxes program tailored for MSMEs . • The Opening of several Mega Projects and continuation of plans for urban expansion through the establishment of new cities and communities to accommodate about 10 m. people, Expanding the use of clean technology and waste management projects. • Starting the exportation of natural Gas after achieving the self sufficiency in 2018.
For Japan: • The Japanese economy is expected to grow by 1% in 2019 with uncertainty for the 2 nd half of the year due to a hike I the consumption tax rate which will take place in October. • Full-scale trade negotiations between Japan and the US will affect the Japanese economy. There is a possibility that the US-Korea FTA and the USMCA type import quotas may be applied to auto and other exports from Japan to the US. Japan will need to argue in favour of forming a framework of trade based on free and fair rules. • Japan will be appreciated in the international community as one of the few countries that has successfully promoted free trade and avoided bitter divisions in society. • Japan will host the convocation of Tokyo International Conference on African Developmet. • Japan will be I the spotlight in the international community in 2019 with the events as the B20, the G20 and the Imperial Succession.

Fostering cooperation through JETRO • Promoting B2B between businesses from both counties particularly through the online business matching. • Promoting inclusive business ( Dispatching Business Missions and Joint Business missions to African Countries) • Supporting export growth ( Especially through participation in trade fairs – Egypt will host the Messa Dusseldorf Packprocess Exhibition I 2019) • Building on the “Sense Egypt” Concept to promote Egyptian Artisan Products and Handicrafts in Japan.
Further areas for cooperation between Apix Business Associatios • Signing a MoU between Japan Business Federation (Keidanren) and the Federation of Egyptian Industries (May be I light of the B20 meetings. • Technical Cooperation in the area of waste management and renewable energy (through the ECO office affiliated to FEI) • Building on the cooperation scheme in the area of Education and knowledge Management to cover also Technical and Technological Education and Training. • Exchange of expertise and change management kow-how in the area of Digital transformation in manufacturing.
