Increasing need for capacity building for service • providers working vulnerable newcomers; Goal: to enhance the capacity of service providers to better serve High demand - information is ever-changing & work • can be complex & emotionally challenging; vulnerable newcomers in Toronto. Very limited free training for service providers. • Where? When? April 2018 – March 2019 Toronto (city-wide) Funded by: Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (Formerly Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration)

How? 12 half day "train the trainer" workshops on 9 subjects  Subjects identified by service providers as training priorities  Convenient and accurate knowledge-sharing (train the trainer)  10 minute trainee presentations  Presentation, talking points & resources provided  Curriculum of training modules online  Toolkits include: full presentations, short presentations, resources,  facilitator notes, exercise descriptions, room set-up suggestions, etc. Online platform for service providers to communicate with each other  Symposium to share the project's outcomes & encourage further  capacity building

  6. Outcomes Utilization of workshop materials is ongoing (online) • 9 toolkits on unique training subjects are available online, • including all resources and presentations. https://torontolips.wixsite.com/capacitybuilding

Outcomes Workshop participants: • increased their knowledge • developed new skills • engaged in self-reflection • applied the knowledge they learned • Broad knowledge-sharing • A model for future LIP collaboration • LIPs across the City with different member organizations and • priorities worked closely together Cross-sectoral partnership development • Expanded our networks •
