I-90/495 Interchange Improvements • The purpose of the project is to address the geometric and operational deficiencies that result in safety issues and increased congestion at one of the busiest interchanges on the Massachusetts Turnpike. • The existing interchange will be reconfigured to improve safety and to meet high volume interstate-to-interstate demands. 9/26/2017 4
I-90/495 Interchange Improvements • The project is in the preliminary design stage and is slated to be advertised in FY 2020 as a design-build project. The current timeline has construction slated from 2020-2023. • The project team is currently refining the conceptual alternatives for evaluation and public comment as part of the environmental review stage of this project, in order to identify a preferred alternative. • After the environmental review phase is completed, the preferred alternative will be advanced to the 25% design stage. • The project team has recently launched a project website providing more details on the project and anticipates holding public information meetings in the near future. • https://www.massdot.state.ma.us/highway/HighlightedProjects/I- 495I-90InterchangeImprovements.aspx 9/26/2017 5

Project Development • Ashland- Reconstruction on Route 126 (Pond Street), from the Framingham T.L. Holliston T.L. ($13 million) The project is at 25% design stage and listed on 2020 TIP. • Bellingham - Ramp Construction & Relocation, I-495 at Route 126, ( $13.5 million) interchange improvement project is at the preliminary design stage. An Interchange Modification Report was submitted to FHWA for review. • Framingham, Natick - Cochituate Rail Trail, ($8 million) project is at the 25% design stage. It is currently programmed in FY 2018 of the Boston TIP utilizing Statewide Congestion Mitigation Air Quality (CMAQ) funds. • Framingham- Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon at Route 9 and Maynard Road. ($1 million) The project is at the 25% design stage and construction funding has yet to be identified. • Framingham- Reconstruction of Union Avenue, from Proctor Street to Main Street. ($10 million) The is programmed on the FY 2021 Boston TIP. • Holliston- Multi-Use Trail Construction on a section of the Upper Charles Rail (2 Miles of Proposed 27 Miles - Phase I ($2.3 million) Construction funding has not been identified. • Hopkinton - Route 135 signal and intersection improvement. ($8 million) The project is a the 25% design phase and appears on the 2019 TIP. • Littleton- Ayer- Intersection Improvements on Route 2A at Willow Road and Bruce Street. ($2.4 million) Project is in the preliminary design phase and construction has not been identified • Littleton- Westford - Interstate Maintenance and Related Work on I-495 ($17 million) Project is listed on the 2020 TIP. 9/26/2017 11
Project Development • Hudson, Marlborough- Interchange Reconstruction at I-290 & 495, including Bridge Replacements. ($123 million) The proposed interchange improvement project significant changes to the ramping system and replacement of four bridges. Conceptual design • Marlborough -Reconstruction of Route 85 ($5.4 million) The project was programmed on the TIP in FY 2017 and was advertised on 6/24/2017. The bid opening is set for 11/7/2017. • Marlborough- Resurfacing and Related Work on Route 20 $9.9 million the pre-25% design stage and is programmed on the FY 2019 TIP with a Spring/Summer 2019 advertisement • Natick- Reconstruction of Route 27 (North Main Street), From North Avenue to the Wayland Town Line. ($ 8 million)The project is currently at the 25% design stage is currently programmed in FY 2019 on the TIP. • Shrewsbury- Bridge Rehabilitation Boylston Street (Rte. 140) over I-290. ($18 million) is at the 25% design phase. • Southborough – Resurfacing and Related Work on Rte. 9, from the Framingham town line to White Bagley Road. Total estimated project cost is $4.7 million and the project was recently advertised on 9/9/2017. • Southborough- Reconstruction of Main Street (Route 30), from Sears Road to Park Street 75% design stage and is programmed on the FY 2018 TIP with a December 2017 advertisement date. • Stow- Gleasondale Bridge Replacement Project ($6.7 million) Project is listed on the 2020 TIP. • Sudbury -Intersection Improvements at Rte. 20 and Landham Rd. $1.7 million. The project is progressing to the 75% design phase, and construction is currently unfunded. 9/26/2017 12
I-90 Toll Demolition and Roadway Reconstruction • The D3 demolition contract was awarded Skanska-McCourt with the bid price of $39.6 million. • Work included the removal of roadway, abandoned toll collection structures and roadside infrastructure no longer needed following the implementation of the 1-90 All Electronic Tolling System at Interchange 9 (Sturbridge), 10 (Auburn), 10A (Millbury), 11 (Millbury), 11A (Hopkinton), 12 (Framingham) and 13 (Framingham/Natick). The roadway will be reconstructed to accommodate vehicles using the new roadway alignment. • The contract completion is November 30, 2017 and work is currently on schedule. 9/26/2017 13
Ongoing Construction Projects • Acton, Carlisle, Westford -Bruce Freeman Rail Trail Phase 2A project ($9.9 million) April 2018 completion. • Acton, Maynard -Assabet River Rail Trail, ($6.7 million) Spring/Summer 2018 completion. • Framingham- Bridge Betterment, F-07-045, I-90 over MDC Reservoir. ($5.7 million) November 2018 completion. • Framingham- Bridge Replacement, F-07-015, Winter Street over MBTA, Amtrak & CSX Railroad ($6.6 million) Bridge is scheduled to reopen in late 2017, with final project completion in 2018 • Franklin, Wrentham, Plainville, Foxborough, Mansfield - Interstate and Related Work on I-495 (NB & SB), ($6.7 million) Project completion. April 2018 completion. • Hudson - Bridge Replacement, H-25-003, State Route 85 (Washington Street) Over the Assabet River. ($4.5 million) Bridge is currently closed to traffic but scheduled to reopen in October 2017, with final project completion in 2018. 2017 Resurfacing Projects • Acton - Milling and paving on Route 2A (Great Road) from the Littleton Town line to the Concord Town line. • Boxborough - Milling and paving Route 111 (Massachusetts Ave) from the Harvard Town Line Easterly to a pavement joint near the driveway of 1233 Mass. Ave known as the Boxborough Green Plaza. • Littleton - Milling and paving on Route 110/2A from 495 ramp to the Westford Town Line as well as Rte. 2A from the Littleton Town Center to the Acton Town line. • Hopedale - Milling and paving Route 140 from Mendon town line to Milford town line. • Mendon - Milling and paving Route 140 from Bellingham town line to the Hopedale town line. • Milford -Milling and paving Route 140 from Hopedale town line to Route 16. • Wayland - Milling and paving Route 20 from Route 27 to the Weston town line. 9/26/2017 16
