05.07.2018 Our economy Germany as an industrial nation One quarter of Germany’s gross domestic product (GDP) is generated by industry   If industry-related services are included, the share rises to one third of GDP  The share of industry in economic activity is pretty stable. This is unusual in comparative terms.  Industry plays a key role for Germany’s continuing economic prosperity , that has been increasing for 9 years  There are about 7.5 million domestic jobs in manufacturing (of a total of 43 million), and about 3 million abroad  Germany‘s GDP in 2017 was $ 3.686 billion  In 2017, Germany exported goods worth $ 1.571 trillion and imported goods to the value of $ 1.034 trillion Dr. Thomas Holtmann, Committee on Environment, Technology and Sustainability 5.
