Sunset Varsity Head Coach, John Barnes  Entering fourth year as Sunset High School Varsity Head Coach  10 years of collegiate coaching at Pacific University  11 years of high school coaching at multiple successful programs prior to Sunset  What does Sunset Youth Baseball mean to Sunset High School Baseball?

  4. Head of Sunset Youth Baseball, Nate Mays  Entering fourth year involved with Sunset Youth Baseball  Successful former High School and Collegiate Player with proven leadership both on and off the field  First year as Head of Sunset Youth Baseball

  7. Tryouts – February 24 and 25 Team Announcements – February 26 Schedule and Important Season Starts – End of March Dates Sunset Tournament – June 1-3 Playoffs Begin - July

League versus Tournament  Participate in Westside JBO for Leag eague games  League Roster will participate in Sunset Tournament  Sunset Youth Baseball is currently evaluating Tournament play for 2018.  All players will be eligible for Tournament play, based on skillset  Players sign up for availability  Number of tournaments dependent upon player availability, tournament schedule, etc  League Roster does not determine Tournament roster (with the exception of the Sunset Tournament)

Level of Play - JBO By Age  Senior (7 th -8 th Grade)  Junior (5 th – 6 th Grade)  Midget (3 rd – 4 th Grade)  By Development  Federal  American  National  Each level is designed to maximize players potential  Competitive play at each level – Matrix dictates Federal, at a minimum, at both Junior and Senior 

  10. Level of Play - Tournament  Club  JBO  Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth  Little League  Independent

  11. Volunteer Needs  Sunset Youth Baseball is 100% volunteer run (including coaches) and we NEED help!  Tournament Director  Field Coordinator  Umpire Coordinator  Team Managers  Main role is communication between Head Coach and parents  Email registrar@sunsetapollosbaseball.com

Common Questions…  What kind of bat should I get?  "BPF 1.15", or "BBCOR“ Certified Bats  Length and size dependent upon the player  How much is registration?  $350 (includes two tournaments)  Registration for Clinics end next Wednesday  Only two pitchers so far. If numbers don’t change, we will cancel clinic  Will there be Fundraising?  YES! We will have a fundraising meeting after teams are announced  Other questions? 

  14. 67% of players who participated in Sunset Youth Baseball in 2015 went on to play High School Baseball in Spring 2016 60% of all SYB teams have qualified for JBO postseason since 2015 30% of all SYB teams have advanced to the JBO State Tournament since 2015
