COMMUNICATION - FACTS Parents Web is #1 method of communication - be patient as we all learn this new system - we will keep you informed as we implement new parts of the system - Homework posted - Email all teachers involved - Conferencing with teachers/dismissal - Written note needed after absence - Tardy Policy - Cell Phones and Smart Watches - Service & L.I.F.T.
STUDENT EXPECTATIONS - Charged 1:1 devices required in every class every day - Must have their own supplies - (pens, pencils paper, etc.) - Students utilize an agenda (actual or digital) to record assignments in each class - “Gotcha” & Class Points - ZAP: Z eros A ren’t P ermitted
STUDENT EXPECTATIONS - All hardcover textbooks must be covered at home and in school each day for use - Brand new social studies books - please take good care of them!! - Religion books may be highlighted and written in as they are consumable this year
Uniform Belts : required for boys EVERY DAY Skirt/skort : lengths (must touch the top of the knee from a standing position) Shoes: Black, white, or gray only. No slip-ons or high tops Other : Socks (4” above top of shoe), no make -up, clear nail polish only Mass Day Dress: New requirements begin in December Non-uniform days: Modest and appropriate dress at all times
8th Grade HS Shadow Policy ● 8th Grade Privilege ● Go to website for Permission Form ● Give to Homeroom Teacher 1 week in advance for an excused absence ● Allowed 3 Shadow Days at 3 separate high schools
Religion 7 and 8 ● Relationship with Christ ○ Participate in the Sacrament of Mass and pray as a family ○ Dinner time discussions ● Service Project and Service Hours ○ Plan and Implement their own project 8th grade ○ Solo or Group 8th grade ○ Many options in 7th grade

Accelerated Reader ● Every student should work towards completing the AR goals. ● Reading = Strong Writing ○ What is read is produced on paper ● Students should be reading each day ● Small percentage of ELA Grade

Big Ideas Math Program Parent info night: Sept 10th; 7-8 pm Room 3 ● Assignments are done online ○ Students must still show their work Instant feedback on answers ○ Students are given multiple opportunities for correct answer - perseverance is essential ● No need to purchase a book ● Grade level and advanced placement determined using a variety of data.
SPANISH ● Auténtico Spanish Program: https://www.pearsonschool.com ● Twice a week 7th: Mon/Wed & 8th: Tues/Thurs. ● Immerses students in authentic Spanish language and cultural experiences through text, video, audio, and online learning. NEED Earbuds/with a Mic. ● Assignments submitted online/ Some may be handouts: Homework will be posted. ● Spanish is a letter grade and averaged in GPA
7th Grade ELA ● Mythology ○ opportunity to take national exam ● Novel Studies: Farewell To Manzanar, The Outsiders, Ulysses ● Writing process; proofreading, Greek Week, vocabulary; grammar

- Amplify Science: - On-line, no textbooks, students will have workbooks for each unit (helpful for working on penmanship and memorization) - Students need to bring their Chromebooks to class charged
Science Fair Dates: January 22nd and 23rd in the Parish Hall 7th Grade will be doing a whole class project, 8th grade will be submitting projects individually and in groups Finalist may go onto the Orange County Science and Engineering Fair in March 2020
SCIENCE FAIR - All STUDENTS research a project - Broken down into several small assignments - Assignments start in class - Some need to be finished or edited at home. - Present in class - Top students move on to complete project
7th Grade Science Camp JPL and CHANNEL ISLANDS JPL: Sept 17, leave school 7:15 AM ○ Permission slips sent home today Channel Islands: October 1-3, 2019 ➔ Registration and full payment due Tomorrow! ○ Packing & daily dress will be on the website ○ Logistics questions to Mrs. Kustura
WASHINGTON DC ● Trip is April 1-9, 2020. Information is on the website and continually updated. ● Those not attending are expected to do virtual learning at school ● Look for jacket orders in October ● Monetary questions go directly to LEAD. All other questions please direct to Mrs. Kustura or Mrs. Jakubowski
