About Us • Founded in 1987, the Matcats are one of the oldest, most competitive, most respected and largest clubs in the US. • In 2011, Matt and Violetta Cepak took over the South Lyon Matcats; the former head coach was replaced by Steve Richardson in 2012. • Over the last 5 years the Matcats have grown from the 20 boys to nearly 160 boys and girls who compete at a very high level. • 90% South Lyon kids; Our kids demonstrate the highest sportsmanship and respect based on our motto “Win with Pride. Lose with Dignity. Learn from Both .” • One the most affordable recreational sports at $300 for a 5- month season. We are self-funded 50% by registration and 50% from fundraising. Our success is driven by the perfect combination of fun and hard work.

South Lyon’s Future With the support of South Lyon athletics, Matcats can deliver state championship level wrestling programs to both high schools • Over 35 regional and 10 national tournaments • 2018 – over 2200 wins; 61 state placers; 9 state champions • 2018 MYWAY State Dual Champ; 2X MYWAY Girls State Dual Champ • MUSA Wrestling State Champs 3U, 6U, Girls • 2018 6U Sparty Nationals 4 th place • 2018 Virginia Holiday Duals - placed 26 th out of 96 teams - only school-based team in attendance. • USA Wrestling Regional Training Facility and ranked as 14 th largest youth club in the US.
