  29. Continuing Activities • Regular Dinner Meetings - increased participation from local universities, notably U.C. Berkeley. Reasons for results? − Topics with direct ties to industry and timely/current topics − Heavily subsidized meals for students − Current U.C. ANS student chair provides “nudging” for meetings − Students represent almost 50% of chapter attendance • Public Outreach − Sponsor Teacher Workshop for Science Educators http://www.nuc.berkeley.edu/News/HTW • Scholarship − $1000 scholarship for graduating high school seniors ANS LSC at Reno, Nevada, June 2014

Overview Michigan Section • ~7 dinner meetings per year; plus some separate plant branch activities • Numerous outreach activities • 2 local section funded scholarships • Already approved as a 501(c)(3) organization Ohio Section • Unused funds ~$18k • Almost no activities in past 5 years • Looking to see their funding go to an appropriate use ANS LSC at Reno, Nevada, June 2014

Overview, cont’d Rich Denning approached Past Chair Rod Johnson about merger; discussion points included • Transfer of OH funds and their use; impact on IRS reporting • Membership (MI has a fee, OH did not) Michigan Section agreed to • Add all Ohio members to Michigan email distribution list; all Ohio members annual fee waived 1 st year • Will attempt to have at least 1, if not more, meetings in Ohio each year • Made arrangements to start recording dinner presentations to be shared with members unable to attend the meetings in person • Added an extra position to the EC for a former Ohio member; similar to the positions for a student and plant-branch representatives ANS LSC at Reno, Nevada, June 2014

Outstanding Activities • Formally notify existing Ohio members of the merger • Discuss possible renaming of Local Section (maybe Great Lakes Section) and implications on 501(c)(3) status • Update Rules and Bylaws to include Ohio as part of the section territory (Summer) • Roll out updated web site (July-initial; September-final) • Include former Ohio Section volunteer(s) on the summer EC election ballot (July) • Include Ohio members in the fall membership drive (September) • Start posting monthly meetings to members only portion of web site (starting in September or October) ANS LSC at Reno, Nevada, June 2014
