The Many of the foods we associate with the USA became popular ‘fast foods’, or ‘convenience foods’, during the 1950s. America was becoming 1950s very prosperous, and people had more money to spend on entertainment and eating out. Many American families had more money than before the Second World War. They had more money to spend on better kitchens and equipment in their homes. Fast food became more varied and more readily available everywhere.
