Amazon plans to start offering 30-minute deliveries via drone-like "octocopters.“, first unveiled in December 2013. By now the largest problem for Amazon Prime Air is that the commercial use of UAV technology is not legal yet in the United States. Octocopters will have a 10-mile radius. They'll initially carry items up to five pounds, which is roughly 86% of all deliveries Amazon makes. 22
The drone, whose flight was granted permission by the German authorities, flew at a height of ca. 50 metres above an uninhabited area. Around 2.6 kg in weight, the md4-1000 can remain in the air for up to 90 minutes and reach a top speed of 50 km per hour. The quadrocopter required only a few minutes for the flight over the Rhine. A parallel delivery by car of the parcel in Bonn’s traffic would have taken considerably longer, with a distance of six kilometres over one of the bridges. 23
On May 11, 2014 Francesco's Pizzeria became the first restaurant in India to successfully send a pizza by drone. Used remote-controlled, GPS-enabled four-rotor drone which, flying at 30 km/h, made the trip in about 10 minutes. The unmanned aerial vehicle zipped up to the rooftop of the 21- story apartment building where the hungry customer was waiting, dropped off its payload, then returned to the restaurant. Current regulations only allow drones to fly at an altitude of 200 to 400 feet. 24
