AERMOD
AERMOD – A Regulatory Model to be Used for Permitting and Compliance AERMOD Modelling System: A steady-state plume model that incorporates air dispersion to find concentration of pollutants at various receptors. This makes our work easier in the field of Air Quality Modelling .
Basic Inputs needed to run AERMOD We need four (4) files to run AERMOD Input file which consists of source location, receptor locations, and output options. AERMOD Application (Executable file) Meteorological data: AERMOD requires two types of meteorological data files, that are provided by the AERMET meteorological preprocessor program (EPA, 2004b). One file with surface scalar parameters (Surface MET data file) Other file consists of vertical profiles of meteorological data (Profile MET data file)
Number of Individual Calculations Involved # of Sources – 10 # of Receptors – 1000 # of Meteorological conditions (5 year ) – 5 * 365 days * 24h/day = 43,800 Total Number of calculations – 10 * 1000 * 43,800 438,000,0000 (438 Million individual calculations)
Combining the Individual Calculations to Get Some Answers Source Groups (e.g., Distribution Out of the 10 Discussed Above) 3 – Coke Ovens 3 – Blast Furnace 4 – Others Averaging Times (e.g., Monthly; or 30-Day Rolling Averages) Jan 1-31; Feb 1-28; Etc. Jan 15 – Feb 13 (30-Day); April 15 – May 14 (30-Day) Highest or 2 nd Highest at each Receptor (Raw Calculations for 1-hr Averaging Only) 43,800 individual values at each receptor
Output Options The basic types of printed output available with AERMOD are: Summaries of high values (highest, second highest, etc.) at receptor for each averaging period and source group combination Summaries of overall maximum values (e.g., the maximum 50) for each averaging period and source group combination; Top 50 Values among 438,000,000 calculcations
How to Run AERMOD Make sure that all the four files (AERMOD application, Input File, Profile MET data file, Surface MET data file) are in the same folder. Go to command prompt and give the path of the folder by using change directory(cd). Example: The location of my folder is C:\Users\Paleti\Desktop In command prompt,
Before Running AERMOD
After Running AERMOD
