  6. 6 Who we are The organization of social work regulatory boards in all 50 states, D.C., U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands and ten Canadian provinces. 1979 – Need for national exam Charitable purpose: Relieve burdens on governmental entities

  7. 7 1979: The American Association of State Social Work Boards (AASSWB) incorporated 1979 – 1997: membership grows from 12 states to 49, DC and VI

  8. 8 1998: Alberta is the 1st province to join ASWB 1999: new, more inclusive name − Association of Social Work Boards 2009: Newfoundland & Labrador is the 10 th province to join

Small Group Work 60 minutes of discussion time. ▫ Discuss topic(s)and apply to “your” jurisdiction. ▫ Compare and contrast ▫ Identify issues…and, if possible, answers ▫ Take notes… ▫ Appoint a spokesperson(s) Be prepared to summarize your discussions and conclusions and to respond to and engage in discussions, answer questions of the collective group for approx. 45-60 minutes on Saturday.
