Brainstorming Session 1 “spark and share” technique start with a catchy title, sketch, tagline, description and pass it on to your neighbor 45 ideas, 8 categories In-car content delivery Recommender systems Driver reputation/rater Multi-car gaming In-car convenience Traffjc management Paying without cash Different prices for different people online survey for ranking ideas voted on 5 point scale (I love it, I like it, I don’t care, I don’t like it, I hate it—Throw it away)

  4. Brainstorming Session 1 – Survey Results We agree on: Thrown out: driver reputation system audio newspapers car games set recorder and watch DVDs local tour guide car AIM cop detector this Bud’s For You sharing cabs/carpooling compete for best gas mileage directions from people in ad-hoc asphalt canvas group bids on gas pedestrian ring download content from billboards talking steering wheel car sex We disagree on: fjnd a doctor spam for local stores borrow stuff from other cars directions for caravan restaurant reservations traffjc probe sign memory speed limit monitor personal radio station negotiate intersection driver reputation determines toll fare

  6. Meeting With Client met in person with Ko talked about his background discussed the timeline talked about projects last year talked about IP and patents had 2nd brainstorming session presented our ideas, none seemed exciting to Ko but games would be a good backup

  7. Brainstorming Session 3 in search of that “Great Idea” great ideas come from several people leaping off of each other’s thoughts explored technologies currently infmuencing our lives in an attempt to identify the technology of the future created a persona: Ron Laudy 33 years old married, no kids middle management in advertising watches sports with his buddies leases a new car every 3 years owns a Roomba, loves his TiVo has a large DVD collection wears addidas and puma likes to grill/cook for his wife

  8. Brainstorming Session 3 – Ideas our ideas based on future technology and Ron’s desires mobile garage sale goods trading service location based trading online fantasy team on the go presets that move with you tailored news on radio internet in the car “Dude, where’s my car?” (from cell) driver game: everyone in network wins widespread backup network improved decentralized shipping

  10. Five Concepts, No Direction 5 ideas iGuide local tour guide with recommendation Billboard download content from billboards DJMe personal radio station Game Tribes driver game: everyone in network wins EZ Delivery improved decentralized shipping but no feedback, how to choose? each of us took an idea, wrote it up to explore feasibility and implementation details

  11. Feedback at Last! conference call with client gave us feedback and ranked each of our ideas DJMe Game Tribes were top 2 got rid of Billboard idea

  12. Pittsburgh Auto Show looked at: navigation systems radios OnStar uConnect controls and UIs heads-up displays fjndings: all new high-end cars have navigation systems controls and UIs are poor heads-up displays will be commonplace in 6 years

  13. Choosing One Idea eliminated EZ Delivery because it didn’t seem right for this project rated remaining ideas on a 5-point scale for 4 characteristics easy to prototype not obvious inherent interest educational value Game Tribes had overall highest rating DJMe had low rating for “easy to prototype” researched how hard it would be to prototype DJMe doable although it never has been done

  14. Choosing One Idea DJMe wins!

  15. The Road Ahead rescheduling of our focus group not enough participants started recruiting too late CIs scheduled for this week 2 with WRCT DJs 2 with XBox Live users looking into ways to prototype patent and IP
