Health & Wellbeing • Health outcomes physical and mental treatment and rehabilitation health inequalities • Demonstrable benefits promotes public health and well-being reduces drug / recovery time cost effective
Climate, & Resilience and Biodiversity • • Greenspace role in Greenspace role in Adaptation Mitigation • • Integrated into new biodiversity facility designs; e.g. • green travel plan natural drainage; wind • tree belt = 20% energy shelter • Air quality -particulates • Retro-fitted into existing • one tree = 22kg CO 2 facilities; e.g. solar – and 2yr/person O 2 shading, picnic tables • Supporting workforce resilience; Extreme weather events; e.g. river walks, roof overheating, flooding & garden drought
Cost Effective & Adds Value Greenspace multiple co- Greenspace life cycle cost : benefits drives VfM benefits • ‘Do nothing’ is NOT free • improved recovery Rowntree Poverty report: • reduced drug use NHS £29 bn/ year • reduced heating/ cooling • NHS not realising wider • better value climate levy benefits >£2.2 bn • improve staff retention NHS A&A: before = after • costs less health inequalities NHS FV: £1 = £4.32 = less hospital beds social value one tree shade = 20hrs/ day A/C for 10 rooms
