  1. AAAA Annual Meeting Poster Presentation Guidelines The purpose of the AAAA poster presentation exhibition is for students to present scholarly work in scientific or educational research, share clinical vignettes or present a review of current scientific literature on a clinical topic to the broader AA community. These exhibits encourage students to develop their practice-based learning skills and investigate anesthesia based scientific foundations. General Requirements Presentations for the annual AAAA meeting poster presentation exhibit may be submitted by any current student who attends an accredited Anesthesiologist Assistant training program and has an active AAAA membership. Although there can be multiple contributors and authors to a project, the presentation must be made by a primary author of the scholarly work. A primary author must have participated in the planning, data collection and analysis of scientific research or had to be present during the entirely of a clinical vignette (case report), and conducted the majority of research into the case. A literature review must include evidence from at least five primary sources. Submissions that are sponsored by pharmaceutical or medical device companies are strongly discouraged. Selection for participation in the poster session will be based on quality of research, clarity of the abstract and adherence to the guidelines. Abstracts All those who wish to present a poster at the meeting must submit an abstract detailing their project in the appropriate style. Those submitting scientific research or literature reviews should follow APA/IMRaD style of: • Introduction • Materials & Methods • Results • Discussion Those submitting clinical vignettes should submit their abstract in the following style: • Title and Author Information • Introduction • Case Description • Discussion Each abstract submitted may be entered in one of three categories: Original Research: Report of study findings or other research project that has not been previously presented or published. Students may submit research from basic clinical science or original educational research. Clinical Report/Case Studies: Clinical case reports or clinical vignettes. The main purpose of the discussion is to review why decisions were made and to extract the lesson from the case. Literature Review: A comprehensive review of current research on a relevant clinical topic in the field of Anesthesiology. The review presentation must include an introduction on the topic, a summary of the results and the conclusions of the studies. In addition, the poster sh ould evaluate the articles’ components including methods, statistical analysis and the application of such knowledge in clinical anesthesia practice. All articles and evidence should be appropriately referenced.

  2. Poster Guidelines • The poster display boards will be provided by the AAAA. The display surface will be approximately 4 feet in height x 8 feet in width. The required poster size for display at the meeting is 36” x 48”. • The poster should have the title placed at the top with the authors' names and affiliations (optional) beneath it. We recommend lettering of at least 1.5 inches high for easy readability. The title should match that submitted with the abstract. • The poster should also include a copy of the abstract and expanded sections of the purpose, methods, results and conclusions as appropriate to the type of abstract. Use large enough fonts for subtitles and text so that the poster can be read from approximately 2-3 feet away. • Charts, drawings, and illustrations might well be similar to those you would use in making slides; preferably simple and more heavily drawn. How to submit Students who wish to submit a presentation for consideration will initially submit the following to the AAAA via email at info@anesthetist.org by February 26, 2016 : • Completed poster submission form (attached) • PDF of abstract Depending on the amount of space and submissions, those who are invited to present will be notified by March 11, 2016.
