23/03/2012 • People returning to salford – Last 5 years 16 people have returned to Salford • Maintaining existing placements – Over last 10 years only 4 peoples placements have broken down meaning they had to leave the area • Working in partnership – Providers – Housing – Commissioning – Allied health professionals – Children's services (Transition) 3
23/03/2012 Brothers of Charity Self advocacy Group ������������������ • The network started out in September 2008 with approx 20 member at the first meeting • We have since held 7 further events where attendance has grown to 112 • In total we have 230+ members on the network distributions list from all services and ranges of backgrounds from across the Northwest and a few from over the borders • It is planned to have 2 events per year 15 th March 2012 and 12 th September 2012 The NW PBS Network • At the events we have guest speakers who are able to talk about PBS and it’s associated subjects i.e. risk assessment, HR, reducing restrictive practice, children's services • We also had Viv Cooper from CBF, Prof Jim Mansell, Neil Allen, Prof Chris Hatton, • Peter McGill is presenting in March 2012 • Prof Eric Emerson will be one of the speakers in September 2012 • We have also delivered a 3day course for first line managers • In total 27 managers from across the NW from LA, PCT and independent sector • This will allow the cascading of good practice to hands on staff i.e. if each manager has 10 staff then will can influence 270 staff from the first course • We also have people supported helping deliver this training 4
23/03/2012 The Network • In 2010 the network is facilitated Gary LaVigna from IABA deliver his 4 day programme in Manchester • The network has offered free places for families on this course • In 2011, the network was highlighted in a The Voluntary Organisations Disability Group report So what next Host Parents and carers conference on 6 th July 2012 • • Increase the size of the network by including families • Continue to deliver 2 network events a year • In partnership with IABA host master class in Manchester in October 2012 • Liaison with GP commissioning consortiums' • Development of small peer support groups to support staff with individuals assessments • Development of single module course with Edge Hill University, in relation to undertaking functional assessments • Standardisation and accreditation of PBS training delivered by organisations in the NW • Involvement in national self evaluation of CB services project • To join please email dave.williams@salford.gov.uk 5
