2019 Ski Trip to Andalo, Italy – Information Evening 25/11/19

Where is Andalo? (900 miles)
Travel Arrangements • Friday 14/2/2020: Bring ONE MEDIUM SIZED CASE to the HALL between 8 and 8:45. Leave about 2pm (although exact time is yet to be confirmed). • Saturday 15/2/20: Arrive at the resort • Ski Sunday to Thursday (5 days – 23 hours) • Friday 21/2/2020: Leave Andalo at around 07:30am • Saturday 22/2/2020: Arrive Oaklands about 06:00 (final time TBC)
What to Wear For the Journey • Loose, Warm Clothing • Ski Jacket • Sensible, sturdy, flat Footwear What to Take • Food/drink (we will stop for breakfast) • MP3 Player / Games • Travel Sickness Pills (if required) • Travel Cushion • Your hand luggage is to be • Money for meal on the ferry placed under seat- so keep it small!

The Dining Room Please note – breakfast and evening meals will be eaten here. At lunch, students will be given a voucher to spend in the restaurant at the base of the slopes.

Skiing at Andalo: Be prepared!
Ski Kit list: Page 1 of 2 Hat: Not essential as students will wear a ski helmet, but could be worn when not skiing Sunglasses or goggles: Protection for the eyes from sun and snow glare. Should be splinter proof (Goggles are what should be used really) Cream for face and lips: Protect the skin and lips from sunburn and chapping. Use several times a day. Ski jacket: Waterproof and windproof, preferably with high collar and hood; close fitting at the neck, cuffs and hips. Must overlap ski trousers. Gloves: Essential wear; should not be too tight. Cuffs snug to wrist.
Kit list: Page 2 of 2 Salopettes/Trousers: Should be waterproof. Design should prevent snow going into boots and keep midriff warm. Boots: Special boots are provided . These seem heavy at first but must support your ankles well. Skis and poles: Safety bindings attach skis to boots. These are provided . Helmets: all wear a helmet (provided) Underneath (with several changes): Socks: to just below the knee Tights or long thermals (if really cold) Base layer (I have a long sleeve ‘Under Armour’) Long sleeve t-shirt/ jumper

A typical day… A typical day will be as follows: • 7am wake up - Breakfast • Room/Equipment/Clothing Check (muster group teacher leaders will make sure that all members of their group are prepared for the day) • Skiing Lessons – 2 hours, followed by lunch and a further 2/3 hours of lessons in the afternoon • Return to hotel and dinner • Evening activities (swimming, which is optional, requires a swimming hat) • Time for bed - All students to be in their rooms and lights out by 10.00 pm
Passports & EHIC • I will collect these two weeks before we go to ensure that there is some time to rectify any potential issues that parents haven’t picked up - details about this will be provided in the final letter • https://www.equity.co.uk/brexit- statement is a statement provided by our ski company.
