  8. ACTIVE COMMUNICATIONS How to communicate with the different stakeholders and in the form of their choosing. When to communicate and how often? All lists offer the opportunity to withdraw at any time from the mailing list. MEMBER CLUBS – MailChimp, Social Media Need club contacts that are current and updated regularly. One Club = One Vote must have at a minimum the voting delegate info. Communicate every six weeks (plus social media information). Active Communications PARTICIPANTS – Social Media, Direct Emails (CurlON Chronicle) Open source opt in for communications. CurlON Chronicle, Direct emails. Communicate on a monthly basis. COMPETITORS – Direct Emails, Social Media Opt in when signing up for competition. Direct emails usually pertaining to the competition or information. Communicate on an as needed basis. OTHERS – Who have we missed?

  9. ENGAGED COMMUNITY How to effectively provide programs that get engaged in the community. MEMBER CLUBS Develop programs that are important to the clubs then communicate them. Engaged Create a business plan that matches the Board’s strategic goals. Community Services: PROMOTION: TryCURLINGnow.ca, Adult Learn to Curl, Promo Inventory DEVELOPMENT: BoC Seminars, Value Programs, PARTICIPATION: Clinic Team Program, Effective Competitions ENGAGEMENT: CurlON Chronicle, Club Value proposition, EXCELLENCE: Athlete performances, Hosting opportunities, Celebrate Value: Every program needs to show value to the membership. Promotional products loan program (Street Curl, Floor Curl, Banners, Posters) Vendor Programs: BrokerLink, Elavon, VGM, Excellent Value Programs: Charitable Receipt, Ice Team, Clinic Team, MCAF, Programs Awards: Curling Club Volunteer, Lifetime Achievement Education: BoC Consultations, Webinars, Government relations, Food Safety Others: Capital Asset program, Infrastructure Funding

  10. EFFECTIVE GOVERNANCE The elected Board prepares a strategic plan that follows the bylaws after consultation with the Member Clubs. The plan is built on series of pillars and helps guide the operations team in the development of their business plan. CurlON Strategic Plan 2019-2020 In September, 2019 the Board presented a new set of bylaws for the Association that changed the voting structure from a Voting Member system to a system that Effective Governance has each club vote (One Club = One Vote) CurlON Bylaws – Effective September 14, 2019 To be effective the Board needs to be in communication with each member club and have a voting representative from each club annually. Clubs are now able to update their information directly on the CurlON website by logging into their portal and updating the information.   12. Effective July 1, 2019 the Government of Ontario has updated the legislation requirements under Rowan’s Law . ALL CLUBS MUST INFORM and HAVE ANY PARTICIPANT UNDER THE AGE OF 25 SIGN AN AKNOWLEDGEMENT FORM BEFORE PARTICIPATING IN THE SPORT AT YOUR FACILITY. Concussion E-Booklets Ages 10 and under ROWAN’S LAW Ages 11-14 Ages 15 and up Concussion awareness receipt form POSTERS HIT, STOP , SIT SIGNS

  13. Clubs may become certified in the Safe Sport which supports the Responsible Coaching Movement and have a Safe Sport Certified facility sticker to post at your club. SAFE SPORT 3 Steps to Responsible Coaching Movement Rule of Two Background Screening RESPONSIBLE Ethics & Respect Training COACHING Club SAFE SPORT Verification. MOVEMENT Update your policies (Word templates) Rowan’s Law – Concussion Code of Conduct, Concussion Guideline Safe Sport Policies – Abuse, Appeal, Code of Conduct, Ethics, Discipline, Dispute Resolution, Investigations, Rule of Two, Screening, Social Media, Whistleblower. Once a club has completed all of the steps listed they may upload the necessary documentation and receive the designation. SUBMIT DOCUMENTATION RESPONSIBLE COACHING MOVEMENT POSTER

THE ACT (AODA) Not-For-Profit under 20 employees By January 1, 2012, you need to: ACCESSIBILITY Provide accessible customer service Train your staff and volunteers to serve customers of all abilities FOR ONTARIANS Provide accessible emergency and public safety information Provide accessible emergency information to staff WITH By January 1, 2015, you need to: Create accessibility policies DISABILITIES ACT Consider accessibility when purchasing self-service kiosks (AODA) By January 1, 2016, you need to: Train your staff on Ontario’s accessibility laws Make it easy for people with disabilities to provide feedback when asked By January 1, 2017, you need to: Make your public information accessible when asked Make your employment practices accessible By January 1, 2018, you need to: Make new or redeveloped public spaces accessible By December 31, 2020, you need to: File an accessibility report (CurlON will provide templates by Spring 2020)

  15. Technical Standards and Safety Act TSSA is the investigative and regulatory agency for all plant operations in Ontario. TECHNICAL FREON now moving to Foron (synthetic version being tested) PENDING RULES (Fernie Disaster – implications to CurlON Clubs) STANDARDS & SAFETY AUTHORITY (TSSA) PLANT REPLACEMENT (use a Capital Asset Program – pending report by 2020) Total Estimated Cost $ 150,000 – Life Expectancy 25 years or $ 6,000/yr Based on a membership of: 100 Members $ 60.00 per year 150 40.00 200 30.00 250 24.00 300 20.00 ** costs are estimate only no actual number used.   16. Food Handler Certificate Program All Ontario facilities are required to have a Certified Food Handler onsite at any times when food is being served. Ontario Regulation 493/17 Food Premises Part VI – Food Handling Section 32 Food Handler Training ONTARIO HEALTH 32. Every operator of a food service premise shall ensure that there is at least one food handler or supervisor on the premise who has completed food PROTECTION AND handler training during every hour in which the premise is operating. PROMOTION ACT CurlON will be launching a training program this fall that will organize group training sessions at reasonable costs for clubs to have their volunteers or kitchen staff trained. Maximum cost per trained candidate will be $ 40.00. First BETA test will be held at Metcalfe Curling Club in early December

Build your own customized clinic • Requests are to be made online (3-week lead), to start process. • Clinic requests are confirmed based on Instructor availability. • Terms and conditions in the request page. @CurlONclinics
