10/16/2019 Amid all the recesses and math classes I was learning something else , something far more powerful; something that would shape me as a human being. 4 It took time for me to see the relationship to my past , not just my childhood but the many experiences and messages I received and internalized. 5 Nearing the end of the school year this student spends most of the day sitting in the corner of their class with the educational assistant, a space they have occupied for the entire year. 6 2
10/16/2019 Even as we watch some of what we believe to be fundamental rights erode amidst a cacophony of fear mongering and misinformation there is hope that societies, structures and individuals will hold fast. 7 His response was that you must be magnanimous . 8 What I sometimes forget in my advocacy work is that common ground is a much more powerful ally than divisiveness. 9 3
