Mission: Connect community, government, business, and education to shape a robust, talented, and sustainable workforce Purpose: Strengthen our workforce and communities by providing an interactive forum where workforce issues can be heard, partnerships formed, and solutions created.

Career Services: Preparing the Workforce of Tomorrow Colorado Opportunity Scholarship Initiative – Colorado Department of Education ✓ Scholarships for low-income students seeking training to become employable. ✓ Raised $75,000 + State match of $75,000 = $150,000 in scholarship funds ✓ Partnership with Project Self-Sufficiency ✓ Starts in fall of 2017

  14. Career Services: Preparing the Workforce of Tomorrow Educate T omorrow ✓ Provides scholarship and/or supportive services for people who are homeless/near homeless or have been part of the foster care system in the past. ✓ Partnership with Educate Tomorrow Foundation based in Miami, Florida

Career Services: Preparing the Workforce of Tomorrow Skillful ✓ Online access to tools and resources to identify your skills and get the job. ✓ Provides career coaching to help with resume, cover letters, interviewing and more! ✓ Information on training programs ✓ A Markle Foundation Initiative

Career Services: Preparing the Workforce of Tomorrow Work Based Learning/Internship Programs ✓ United States Department of Labor invited the Workforce Center to provide a promising practice presentation on our programs. ✓ Program serves adults, youth and dislocated workers ✓ Adam Crowe will share additional information on our internship program.

  17. Workforce Center Career Services Designation of Services (Procurement) Recommendation

  18. Career Services Designation: What are Career Services? Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA) Career Services New to WIOA, One-Stop Center services must now include career services. No longer are there separate core and intensive services. Additionally, Centers must expand their labor exchange services to meet in-demand industry sectors and occupations. Labor exchange services must also provide labor market information to the individuals seeking services. The information must be accurate and include information on local, regional and national labor market areas such as: • Job vacancies in labor market areas • Information on job skills necessary to obtain the jobs Local, in-demand occupations and related earning potential • • Opportunities for advancement in those occupations All One-Stops must provide the following career services: • Outreach, intake and orientation Initial assessment • • Labor exchange services • Eligibility for services • Referrals to programs • Performance and cost information Information on unemployment insurance • • Financial aid information • Follow-up services Additionally, One-Stops and partners must provide appropriate services for individuals to obtain or retain employment. These services include, but are not limited to: • Individual Employment Plan (IEP) • Career planning and counseling (no longer called case management) • Comprehensive assessment • Short-term prevocational services Internship and work experience including transitional jobs and industry partnerships • • Workforce preparation Out-of-area job search • • English language acquisition • Financial literacy

Career Services Designation Requirements: • Achieved or exceeded performance standards • Demonstrated strong internal controls (verified through County and State audits) Policies in place to protect against any conflict of interest and ensure • consumer choice On December 7, 2016 the Board of County Commissioners and WDB Executive Committee reviewed the requirements and recommended the Larimer County Workforce Center as the provider of career services in Larimer County pending full WDB approval and final vote of the Board of County Commissioners.

Career Services Designation Next Steps: • If the WDB approves the Larimer County Workforce Center as the provider of Career Services the next steps are: • Final approval of the Board of County Commissioners • Letter sent to Colorado Workforce Development Council • Governor of Colorado has final approval
