  5. Transition Visit • For children to familiarise with setting, staff and each other. • Children will be put into a small ‘bubble’ group with a maximum of ten.

  8. Continuous Provision Continuous provision offers children a constant environment allowing them to explore their interests and new experiences, whilst challenging their learning. It allows children to become independent in making choices, supporting children in becoming active learners. It supports children’s learning and development across all seven areas and the characteristics of effective learning Enhancements and challenges are regularly added to compliment children’s interests, next steps or topic.

General worries and what to expect in the first days • Tiredness • Toilets – shown on first day and have access all day, we remind them to go as often as we can , if accidents happen we assist and change clothes • Intimate care letter in welcome pack to sign and return • Snack – school provides a piece of fruit or vegetable encourage your child to peel oranges and eat the whole fruit, children bring in named water bottle, no juice please • Lunch – children are taken to the lunch hall and supported by staff • Playtimes – with KS1 in the morning • First two weeks involve teambuilding and getting to know you games, learning routines and familiarising them with the setting. • Nobody is left on their own

Morning and Home Time Routines • Mrs Gallagher or Mrs Higgins and TA’s’ – welcome them in the morning, • Expect the children to be tired as they learn about the new environment and routine! • Finish at 3.00pm. • Increasing responsibility and independence in collecting/putting away their things. • Children don’t go until both teacher and child can see someone waiting to collect them. • If collected by someone else or change to the routine, please inform the teacher or ring school.

Home-School Partnership • Encourage close home-school links – parents, grandparents and families as partners in learning • Open door policy - keep us informed of any queries, problems or worries • Stay and Play and newsletters termly • Parents Evenings take place in the Autumn and Spring Terms. • A full written report is given to parents in the Summer Term. • ‘Learning Journey’ available to view online anytime • Regular communication through termly class newsletters, school newsletters/information and reading records.

  15. Reading Packs • Parent Phonics and writing workshop in the autumn term. • Books sent before half-term, once discrete phonics teaching has begun. • Reading books changed once a week more information to come in the autumn term.

  16. Housekeeping • Please LABEL EVERYTHING including PE kits, coats, shoes, water bottles, tights, hats and bags… – all green school coats and bags look the same! • Small green book bags, separate PE bags, lunchbox if required, water bottle. • Encourage your child to dress and undress in their uniforms themselves. Practise turning clothing correct way around & fastening clothing/shoes. • Please ensure your child can use the toilet independently. • Separate PE bags must be in school all the time. Sent home half-termly for washing.

  17. Housekeeping • We must be kept informed of any severe aversions, intolerances or allergies – in writing • No nuts or foods containing nut products in lunch boxes – allergies. • The PTA run a second hand school uniform stall regularly. • No toys to come into school. • Salisbury Journal photos – for Reception and Nativity see media permission letter in welcome pack.
