WLANSIM • Telenor R&I and Radionor have developed the world’s first embedded WLAN radio on the SIM • Embedded radio and adaptive antenna on standard size GSM/UMTS SIM card • 802.11b compliant • Capable of supporting other radio standards • Min. 10 m range demonstrated with card in any phone. (Max 80 m) • Patented Telenor R&I 4
WLANSIM - NFC • WLANSIM and NFC is not in competition • Serve different needs, due to different operation ranges. • Both technologies can be served and co-exist on a SIM • Combining both technologies will generate a richer user experience. Telenor R&I 5
WLANSIM demonstrations • The first version has been tested in four different demonstrators • Nobel Centre in Oslo, Archbishop’s Palace in Trondheim, Telenor Expo in Oslo and Telenor R&I site in Trondheim (2005 -2006) • The technology originated from indoor WLAN positioning and is also a key enabler in two commercial settings • Track the actor to get perfect sound at theatres • Track football player to get performance data Telenor R&I 6
