Welcome to TVHS class of 2022 Course Selection Information
CREDITS ⦿ Each single semester class = 5 credits ⦿ Students take 6 classes each semester. ⦿ Students can earn 30 credits in one semester. ⦿ Students can earn 60 credits in one year. ⦿ You need 220 credits to graduate.
TVHS Graduation Requirements A. History/Social Science World History (10 credits) US History (10 credits (30 credits required) Economics (5 credits) Government (5 credits) Freshman English 9 (10 credits) B. English Sophomore English (10 credits) (40 credits required) Junior English (10 credits) Senior English (10 credits) C. Math Algebra 1 (10 credits) Geometry or Alternate (10 credits) (30 credits required) Algebra 2 or Alternate (10 credits) D. Lab Sciences Life Science (10 credits) ● Biology (20 credits required) Physical Science (10 credits) ● Earth, Chemistry, Physics, or AP Enviro E. World Language NOT required for graduation, but these credits can be substituted for a fine art requirement. F. Fine Art -VAPA (Visual & Performing Arts) Art, Ceramics, Orchestra, Band, Chorus, Drama, Fine Art Dance, ● Arch Design,Video & Media Production. (10 credits required) G. Electives: Any class that is not a requirement listed above counts as an elective. (70 credits required) PE (20 credits required) ● Freshman PE & PE 2 (dance, weights, or waiver)
Course Selection Form Instructions. Fill out the top portion with your name & post-secondary plan. You do not have to take Social Science in 9th grade but you can take AP Human Geography as an elective. Everyone takes English 9. Pick the appropriate math. If you are in: Math 8>Algebra 1 Accelerated Math>Geometry Compacted Math>Algebra 2 +
Course Selection Instructions continued. Pick your science. Most students take Biology. If you are in higher level of math you can take Chemistry+ World Language can be one of your electives. You can choose Spanish or American Sign Language/ASL. Everyone in 9th grade takes PE 1. After you have picked English, Math, Science, & PE, you can pick two electives. Then you MUST pick three alternates for the electives in case your first choice doesn’t work.
