  3. BAYS League Information 10 game season, September 9 -November 11 u Games scheduled for Columbus Day Weekend 10/7. If need to u reschedule, recommend pre-playing game before that date. Coach Card with 2017-2018 sticker needed for all head/assistant u coaches on sidelines. If you have card from previous season find sticker in your team bag. If you need card, email photo to Sue. Bring 2 copies of BAYS Roster to each game (signed by head coach, u Sue’s signature not needed). Bring Emergency Medical Report to each game/practice. u BAYS website www.bays.org u Bookmark your Team Page, Section Page with schedule, standings and contact info for other teams. Contact opposing coaches to confirm game times & locations. Email your game score to Section Captain by Sun night to have u scores posted on site. Make sure your contact info is correct on BAYS site. u

  4. Communication and Game Day Communicate with your team during the week on specifics of game u time / location (and attendance/carpools). Contact opposing team ahead of time to confirm game time/location u Equal playing time policy for all teams (see WUSC website) u Coaches responsible for behavior of parents, communicate Zero u Tolerance to parents Report score to section captain ASAP , but at least by Sun night u Check on color conflicts, pinnies available to borrow from Sue u Arrive at field 30 min before game, game starts promptly at start u time. See Travel Coach Handbook in your bag for more info! u

Game Day Cancellation u Rules for game-day cancellation (weather/other) Home games: u WUSC will make decision on morning games by 7:00 am, afternoon games by 10:30 am u Please check WUSC website (www.wellesleysoccer.org- twitter feed) u If fields are open, the referee is the only one that can decide to postpone game (your team must go to game) u Call/email opposing coach as soon as you know game is cancelled u If the referee decides not to play notify Chris Howard u Email: wuscdoc@wellesleysoccer.org AND schedules@wellesleysoccer.org u Call Chris at 617-458-6739 u Away games: check opposition’s town soccer website and be in contact with opposing coach

  6. Postponement/Reschedule of Games Rules for postponements- contact opposing coach if you can’t field a team. Other team is not required to reschedule. u Notify Chris Howard as soon as you know your game is not being played so he can cancel referee u Email: wuscdoc@wellesleysoccer.org AND schedules@wellesleysoccer.org u Chris cell phone: 617-458-6739 u Open conflicts must be agreed upon with other coach ahead of game. Get BAYS division director in the loop if you have issues with scheduling! u Try to schedule a pre-play but must play the game within 3 weeks of original date (before November 10 end-of-season) u Columbus Day weekend games If you plan to play, please contact Chris to schedule a field/referee. u To reschedule game u Agree on date & time for makeup game u Contact Chris to request field/ref

BAYS/US Soccer Changes Zero Tolerance Green cards have been given to referees for use when u Zero Tolerance infractions occur Infractions can be called on coaches and parents u Recommendation by BAYS to give the following u punishment to coaches who infringe on Zero Tolerance: 1 (minor) to 3 (severe) rating system u 2 rated issue – Coach must issue an apology from the coach to the u referee through the assignor or club rep 3 rated issue – Coach is suspended for one game u All player pass cards will now be kept by the referee in u case of issue Lanyards u Ball no longer has to be played forward at kick-offs u

  8. Fall/Spring Tournaments Teams are encouraged to attend tournaments if players available. Upcoming tournament listings at http://www.mayouthsoccer.org/tournaments/tournaments_in_ma/ Columbus Day- Natick, Mansfield and others Needham & Framingham Memorial Day Coaches sign up directly for tournaments and collect $ from players to cover cost of entry and patches.   14. Curriculum We recommend that all practice sessions follow the S.C.O.R.E. method: S IMPLE. Stick to one theme during your practice session. Choose 2 or 3 core coaching points and reinforce them throughout the session. C HALLENGING. Ensure that the players are posed problems that they need to find solutions to. Provide guidance and help when they need it. O RGANISED. Plan every detail of your session - how many players, space and equipment. Ensure that your sessions have the appropriate pace and progression to challenge all of your players. R ELEVANT . Ensure that the exercises in your session are relevant to the game. E NJOYABLE. The players should walk away from every practice having thoroughly enjoyed the session and learning at least one new aspect of the game. Practices Use Director of Coaching (DOC) curriculum with • practice plans from WUSC website DOC and PDO staff available to help with practices • Contact Roxy with requests – rlee-stewart@globalpremiersoccer.com • Support DOC/PDO by helping develop practice plan for assisted session and • providing post-practice feedback when requested u Practices: recommend 1-2 practices per week Choose day/time/location that works for coach and players u Scheduling practice and field availability u Please use system to schedule all practices, instructions in fields section of u web site Those with practices scheduled will be notified if field is not available u Do NOT “turn up” to a field if not reserved u

Fields-General Points u If you see major field or facilities damage like sprinkler heads notify DPW at Wellesley DPW 24 hour hotline - 781-235-7600 u Any game scheduling, including rescheduling, issues please send email to : schedules@wellesleysoccer.org and wuscdoc@wellesleysoccer.org u Fields will be closed due to weather: Mid week by DPW typically before 3 PM u Saturday by 7 AM & 10:30 AM, Sunday 10 AM u By referees anytime time at their discretion u u Field closure will be posted on website and via twitter u Arrive at least 30 minutes before home game kick off to sort out goals, flags and bags Especially early games at Elm Bank and Sprague! u u Friday is most popular practice nights! u Town Trash Initiative (Green School Campaign) – Reusable water bottles & Clean-Up

Fields - General Points (2) Please have your team pick up all trash after practice and u games (including orange peels) u Pay particular attention at Elm Bank, which is a carry in/carry out facility Please do not use goal mouths for practice on grass fields u u Move goal off end lines, play in between fields if possible Return goals to original location if moved for practice u Schofield will not be used for games this season but is u available for practice.
