General Schedule Information ● ERHS is on a trimester schedule ● 6 classes a day ● Courses are the same every day ● Changes at trimester break
English ● English is a full year course ● Students will choose from ● English 9 or ● Honors English 9
Math ● Math is a full year course ● The 9th grade class chosen is dependant on the 8th grade math course
Science ● Science is a full year course ● Students can choose from: ● Physical Science with Earth Science ● Honors Physical Science with Earth Science ● Biology
Honors Physical Science or Biology? Some things to think about when deciding ● Honors Physical Science ○ Students learn basic chemistry and physics concepts helpful for entry into Chemistry and Physics Courses ● Biology ○ Students will be able to access AP Science courses earlier ○ Students that bypass Honors Physical Science may have difficulty in Chemistry and/or Physics. More outside learning may be necessary.
Social Studies ● Social Studies is either a 2 trimester OR full year course ● Students will choose ● Human Geography (2 trimesters) or ● Advanced Placement (AP) Human Geography (3 trimesters)
Students successful in Honors and AP classes ● Work well independently ● Strong work ethic ● Creative ● Responds positively to challenging situations ● Likes to analyze ● Likes to read and write ● Shows a high degree of interest and motivation ● Shows above average ability in oral and written expression ● Likes to do homework (APHG 45min- 1hr nightly) ● Has excellent time management skills ● Has an interest in the subject area
World Language World Language courses are full year ● World Language is not required to graduate ● HOWEVER, most 4 year colleges require at least 2 consecutive years of the same ● World Language ● ERHS offers: ○ French ○ German ○ Mandarin ○ Spanish
Other Electives Remember - 1 trimester of General Phy. Ed. and 2 trimesters of Fine Arts are required for graduation ● Students will choose electives ○ Physical Education ○ Art ○ Project Lead the Way ○ AVID (PLTW) ○ Business Education ○ Technology Education ○ English Electives ○ World Language ○ Family and Consumer Science ○ Music
Alternates ● Students need to choose 5 alternate electives ● Sometimes the electives chosen are not available or do not fit in the student’s schedule. This is why we ask for alternate choices ● Alternates are used frequently, so please choose carefully
Zero Hour Zero hour courses are intended to provide flexibility for students who want to ● attend school between 7:35 am - 2:05 pm (hours 0-5) ● Enrollment priority is given to students requesting a 0-5 schedule Students who have requested a 7th course (hours 0-6) will be placed if space is ● available Transportation for zero hour is the responsibility of the student and family ● ● Courses offered in zero hour for 19/20 school year for incoming freshman Algebra 2 - ZMA023, ZMA024, ZMA025 ○ ○ Pre Calculus - ZMA053, AMZ054, ZMA055 ○ Principles of Biomedical Science - ZPL010, ZPL011, ZPL012
Summer Opportunities and Orientation ● At this time, there are not any summer courses in Summer 2019 being offered ● 9th Grade Orientation - September 3 (grades 10-12 start September 4)
Other Important Things to Know ● Choose carefully! Courses can not be changed in the future ● Core subject teachers may change from trimester to trimester ● Requests for specific teachers cannot be accommodated ● Keep in mind that these are course requests . Elective choices are not guaranteed. ● Students…..choose electives that YOU are interested in

Steps for Registration (continued) 3. Enter courses in Infinite Campus Student/Parent Portal at home 4. Return Registration Card to Middle School by date on next Slide 5. Students will meet with ERHS Counselors in January at the middle schools to review course requests and have an opportunity to ask questions
