Development of Test Procedure for used EVs A standardized test for used EVs in the Nordic region.
EV sale building up + 463 so far this year + 1500-2500 in 2011? More EVs available from different • car producers, growing market. • This also means a growing second- hand market where eliminating risk and uncertainty for both seller and buyer is important. Norway Less than 500 in Sweden & Denmark Very few in Finland www.gronnbil.no
Development of test procedure for used EVs • NAF-test is used to determine a car’s condition prior to a transaction (objective evaluation). Battery not included. A need to: Benefit a growing second-hand market for used EVs. • Help second-hand buyers and sellers get an objective • assessment. • Make it easier to compare, buy and sell used Evs across boarders.
Partners The Norwegian Automobile Federation (NAF), Norway • • Federation of Danish Motorists (FDM), Denmark • Autoliitto (AL), Finland Bilprovningen, Sweden • Think, Norway • • Norstart - Norwegian Electric Vehicle Association, Norway • Norsk Miljøpark for Trafikk og Motor AS, Norway
Key objectives/Goals Develop a test procedure for used EVs (WP1). • • Prepare one designated NAF test center in the Oslo region with equipment and training to perform the test (WP2). The project will deliver a standardized test method for used EVs, that can be deployed to car test-centers where applicable.
WP1: Develop test methodology Main workload: developing a method to test battery status. • Key tasks: Define different customer related situations and • specific needs the test should answer to. Essential: Customer focus throughout the whole process.
WP2: Implement test methodology at a designated NAF center • Designating a NAF test center. • Buy necessary hardware. Install hardware and train test personnel to carry out the • test as developed and described in WP1.
Activities Kick off with all partners: 14th of April 2011 in Oslo • • Work group meetings: 18/2, 29/4, 5/5 ++ • Trying out the test on a reference group with EV-owners: September/October End of project partner meeting: November •
Long-term goal The different test partners make the test available for • customers, in a growing market. • Depends on costs, market demand etc. The project will focus on potential customers’ needs and aims to find a cost-effective way to offer an EV-test that meet these needs.
