UBIKAR Veld is like a space, a fmat and barren emptiness with skyline extending infjnitely. A place of self-confrontation and resulting noise. Veld closes UBIKAR ’s fjrst trilogy (started in 2012 with Tumulte de Blanc ). UBIKAR is a unique trio from Lyon. With their albums, the band has shaped a strong personality, a dark universe fjlled with landscapes sculpted in molten rock and a need for humanity in the heart of it. The notion of ubiquity referring to their name is mirrored in the aesthetics confrontation, an hybridisation of telluric rock music and a modern electronic production. This alchemy results in a strong, violent and tribal music, like an outlet, a hopeful struggle, inspired by Digital Mystikz as well as Suuns , Liars . A shout that cannot be uttered as is, out of modesty, out of a need for its transformation, a shout that covers the whole music and creates a constant tension, a willingness for burning moments and a raw sincerity. altitude.Zero was their previous album (released in 2016) : direct, sharp, driven by a deep wrath and a desire for a tougher tone, perfectly illustrated by South African MC Ben Sharpa (featured in the songs Planet Bukowski & C.O.P.S. ) Veld is the band’s third album. It brings their commitment to another sphere, the sphere of an inner struggle and thousands of faces experienced. Veld specifjcally refers to this universe, this space which enables self-confrontation. Driving inner demons away, facing the consequences of one’s actions, overcoming doubt, not limiting oneself to what we see or think we know, developing as a person, always dreaming, never getting consumed, being able to remember. Smiling. Getting better. A fmat and barren emptiness with skyline extending infjnitely, and big black rocks sometimes here and there, each with its own story. Even if it is a more introspective album, it refers to a common story : self- confrontation, a substance inside of each and everyone (as evidenced by the numerous musicians featured). For example, Warrior Queen and Killa P (known for their collaboration with renowed bass music artists like Skream and The Bug ) are featured in From . Rap artists Legion Of Goon ( Stig of the Dump side project, revealed with Rag’n Bone Man ) and the singer Sylvain Ferlay are featured in Control . The band wanted to fjnd a way of exploring the aesthetic duality of their music as deeply as possible: seeking oneself to be oneself.
