  1. Training Tips : Preparing an Excellent Presentation Presentations are a very useful tool for many corporate situations in a multitude of businesses. There are two aspects to think about when making a presentation. These are the message and the delivery. Here we discuss the message. The length and content of the MESSAGE will depend on what type of presentation it is. Typically the instructional and informative presentations are longer than the others and can be around 30 minutes. The others are usually about 10 15 minutes. A presentation needs a clear objective, which is not too broad. If the objective is SMART it will be clear. A presentation has many similarities with a report in terms of organizing information. The introduction, body and conclusion need to be clearly identifiable by the audience. It also has a big opening with a quote, a (startling) fact, a story or a question as in a movie. The meat of the presentation is in the body. We can include descriptive, analytical, interpretive, argumentative information in the body. This information can be found from primary or secondary sources or by using analysis tools like the SWOT or PESTLE. The recommendation also comes in the body. In the conclusion of a presentation, we restate the objective, main point and recommendation in different words. This is called paraphrasing. The conclusion has to create a lasting impression on the audience because they remember the beginning and the end well.
