WHAT IS THE THOR HEYERDAHL INTERNATIONAL DAY? The Institute has organised The Thor Heyerdahl International Day eight times (2006, 2007 , 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014), each year with an international guest lecturer talking on a relevant global theme.

FRAMEWORK FOR GLOBAL He was the Vice-Chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel ENVIRONMENTAL AND SOCIAL on Climate Change (IPCC-AR4), which shared the 2007 Nobel SUSTAINABILITY SUSTAINOMICS Peace Prize with former Vice-President of the United States Al Gore. Munasinghe is the Chairman of the Munasinghe Institute for Development. Currently he is a Professor of Sustainable Development at the Sustainable Consumption Institute, University of Manchester, and Institute Professor at the Vale Sustainable Development Institute, Federal University of Para, Brazil. He also serves on the board of directors of Green Cross International and is a member of the Club of Rome.
