The Committee plans to have stained glass installed in the four south windows of the church, on both sides of the altar. 1
The south view could be visualized as a triptych: On the left the birth of Jesus, in the center the Crucifix, His death, and His resurrection to the right. 2
After almost a year of study and input from parishioners the committee unanimously selected Stephen Wilson Stained Glass to fabricate the south windows and design some other church windows 3
Stephen Wilson emphasizes complex use of both color and images 4
Consistent themes of “figurative art”, “brightness” “traditional”, and “color” from parishioners will provide guidance to the artist. 5
Stephen Wilson was selected because of the spirituality of his work and high level of artistry. He has demonstrated the ability to produce pictorial, rather than abstract, sacred art that is faithful to our Catholic tradition and yet provides fresh insight into our traditional symbols. The Committee believes this balance of classic and fresh insight is best suited to our new church structure and the future of our young, growing parish. As the focal point of the church narthex, this window faces and offers a vibrant counterpoint to the bronze crucifix behind the central altar. St Helen Catholic Church, Pearland, Texas 9
