  2. What is UK Youth Parliament? UK Youth Parliament ( UKYP ) is run by young people for young people . There are hundreds of MYPs ( Members of Youth Parliament ) & DMYPs ( Deputy Members of Youth Parliament ) across the UK that represent the views of young people in their local communities .. By acting together , UKYP gives young people a powerful voice that is heard by decision makers in local and national government and helps young people to use their energy and passion to change the world for the better . It ' s not about politics - it ' s about getting the voice of young people heard .

  3. Why is UKYP important? To find out the views of young people and present their views , opinions and issues to local decision makers . To have a collective voice for young people to address the issues important to them in their own communities . To get young people involved in the decisions that affect them , and be actively involved in improving services for young people .

  4. What do MYPs and DMYPs do? MYPs and DMYPs have to create a ‘ manifesto ’. A manifesto is an outline of the issues you feel are important locally and nationally . These are the issues an MYP will work on during their time with UKYP . Other young people in Suffolk look at all the manifestos during elections and vote for their preferred candidate based on these . Being an MYP or DMYP includes : Attending local and regional meetings Promoting the positive work of UKYP and British Youth Council Consulting with as many young people as possible in their area Working on local and national campaigns

They include A Curriculum for Life , Mental Health , Protect LGBT + People , Transport and Work Experience Hubs for 16 - 18 year olds . The top issues nationally are debated and voted for in the House of Commons by MYPs each November .
