  1. Substitutes, Teacher Salaries and Supplemental Pay Kim Carter April 12, 2018 Presented to CBAC

  2. Substitute Assignments ● Substitute assignments and rates are based on either half-day or whole-day in Chesterfield ● Hourly rates are not used because it would be difficult to recruit subs for less than a half day of work/pay

  3. Substitute Rates ● Substitute rates have remained unchanged since 2010- 11; in 2010-11 they were decreased due to the recession ● The daily rate for degreed teacher substitutes is less than what was paid in 2007-08 ($80 to $78) ● The daily rate provided for instructional assistant substitutes has made it difficult to fill those jobs

  13. Teacher Salaries: Bachelor’s Degree Chesterfield currently leads the way compared to two largest local counties with whom we compete for teachers: ● CCPS ranks first on experience scale 88% of the time ○ CCPS leads on 30 of 34 years of experience ○ Hanover leads on 2 ○ Henrico leads on 3 ● Richmond City is the highest on every step 26 compared to county divisions except year “0”
