The appropriate response? Do nothing? React and diversify? Diversify into what? Renewables?
Where are we and why? Government Targets 15% of UK’s energy from renewables by 2020 - Preventing climate change - Securing future energy supplies. - Providing £100 billion worth of investment opportunities and up to half a million jobs in the renewable energy sector by 2020.
So diversify into which renewable energy? PV? Wind? Air source heat pumps? Ground source heat pumps?

What is PV? PV or photovoltaic technology harnesses the sun’s energy.
The opportunity in the UK Opportunities to gain contracts in a range of areas: Commercial Projects – Offices, shopping centres, sports stadiums. Community Projects –schools, universities and hospitals. Domestic Sales – Houses, sheds, garages. Agricultural Projects – Ground mounted PV systems to farm land and lightweight systems to barn roofs.

Further opportunities with PV: Manufacturing components. We manufacture mounting rails and bracketry for mounting PV systems both on roof tops and ground mount applications. The majority of similar products on the market are manufactured in Europe and the Far East. We are proud of our ‘made in Britain’ element and the resulting low embodied energy of our products.
Further opportunities with PV: Wholesale of components. We offer renewable energy products to smaller companies who are unable to secure competitive prices directly from the manufacturers.
