If you are Walkers and Bus not eating breakfast, you must remain outside until the bell Students- rings at 7:25am and go directly to homeroom. Students who ride a bus Changes for both from previous years. For students who ride a bus, you may enter the back cafe entrance to eat breakfast. Once you are done, you must go to homeroom. If you do not eat breakfast, you should enter in Door 25 and proceed to homeroom. This door is the large door that enters the HS Auditorium Stage. A Principal will be there on the first day to help and assist. Students are not allowed to socialize in the hallway prior to homeroom. All students must report directly to homeroom unless you are eating breakfast. Teachers will be in homerooms by 7:12am.

  6. Homeroom Lists Your homeroom teacher will be listed on your schedules which will be mailed on August 17th. Schedules will also be available on the Sapphire Portal. To register for portal, please go to our District website where a link can be found. Also, homeroom lists will be available on front doors by Auditorium entrance and back cafe doors.

  7. Temperature Checks Upon entering homeroom, all students will have their temperatures taken by their homeroom teacher. If a student has a temperature over 100, they will be discreetly sent to the nurse to be further evaluated. Parents will be contacted at this time Homeroom Procedures and our safety protocols will be followed. Chromebooks- Google Form- daily students will be asked a few questions to screen for COVID-19. Students will use their Chromebooks to complete the form.

  8. Wearing of Masks Wearing of Masks All staff and students are expected to wear masks upon entering the building and should keep masks on the entire school day except when eating or drinking in lunch, participating in gym activities, or special classroom situations (welding class). We understand that some students or parents may have personal objections to wearing a mask during the school day for a variety of reasons. If this is the case, we ask that you consider the Virtual Academy or the Remote Learning Option. We all must do our part if we are going to be able to stay in school and stop the spread of COVID -19. This is a team effort. Wearing a mask during the school day is not an option, but a requirement.

  9. Lunch We will be utilizing several locations for lunch due to the Lunch large number of students eating lunch each period. Students will be assigned to one of the following areas: Old School Gym or Cafeteria. Box lunches will be provided at each location and students will socially distance while eating with plastic shields that separates students. Face masks may be removed while eating. If you are in the main cafeteria, only 4 students are allowed per table. Students must remain behind shield during the entire lunch period. Also, students must remain seated during the entire lunch period. If a student needs to leave the cafe or old school gym, they must put their mask on. One additional change from last year will be students are able to use their cell phones during lunch. All freshman will eat in the Old School Gym after picking up their lunch in the cafe.

  10. Hallway Traffic Patterns Hallway Traffic Patterns All hallways will be marked to indicate the way students should and should not walk to and from class. In some hallways students will have the ability to go both directions due to the design of the school. We need full cooperation from students in following directions found on floor hallways. There will be times when it will be logistically easier for students to go opposite of what the arrow on the floor is indicating, but students need to follow directions for the safety and order of all. Directional arrows only need to be followed between class periods and not when classes are in session.

  11. Masks and Hand Sanitizer Masks and Hand Sanitizer Upon entering the building, students will have the opportunity to pick up a mask if they do not have one. Also, there will be tables at entrances with bottles of hand sanitizer so students can sanitizer as they enter. Around the building we have wall mounted hand sanitizers and in classrooms for students and staff. Students are encouraged to bring their own masks.

  12. Hand washing Handwashing Specially designed soap is available in all lavatories for students to wash their hands. If a student sneezes or coughs into their hand with or without a mask, they will be afforded the opportunity to go to the bathroom and wash their hands. We encourage students to wash their hands prior to eating as this is a practice recommended by the CDC. We also will allow students to wash their hands as frequently as possible during the school day.

  13. Desk Shields Desk Shields The district has purchased a personalized desk shield for each student. This will be carried from class to class as the student moves about the day. The shield provides a good barrier and provides protection. Although masks still need to be worn, the shield will help prevent any potential spread. These shields will need to be picked up in the morning in homeroom and returned each day back to homeroom. Students do not need to worry about cleaning, they will be cleaned each night by devices we have placed in each classroom. Please watch the video below for more information. https://vimeo.com/436141117

  14. Desk Cleaning Desk Cleaning At the end of each class period, students will be responsible for cleaning their own desk. Disinfectant wipes or spray with paper towels will be provided.

  15. Schedules Schedules Final schedules will be sent home during the week of August 17th. Students and parents were asked to contact their counselor over the summer. If you have not done this, counselors made an attempt to reach out and finalize schedules during the week of August 3rd. If a schedule is not fixed by the first day of the school year, students will need to follow the schedule they were provided in homeroom and email their counselor for an appointment. Please remember, since we are concerned with having large numbers of students in the guidance office, it may take one to two weeks to change a schedule.

  16. Outdoor Classes Outdoor Classes We will allow teachers to teach classes outside of the school building as frequently as the curriculum and technology allows. This may require your child to bring a jacket or sweatshirt to school. The teacher will inform the student if one is needed.

  17. Physical Education All physical education classes will be held outside unless weather conditions do not permit. Students will be required to wear gym appropriate clothing to school. Physical Education Students who are not wearing gym appropriate clothing will not be able to participate and this will impact their grade. The Physical Education teachers will describe what is appropriate and not appropriate gym attire on the first day of class. Gym classes will mainly consist of individualized workouts that will require students to possibly walk, run, or do calisthenics. PE will look more like personalized fitness classes, rather than traditional PE that consisted of a large amount of team sports activities. Students will be asked to set personalized goals that can be done outside of school in the event that school is closed.

  18. Chorus/Choir/Band Chorus/Choir/Band Due to COVID-19, no singing or playing of wind instruments will be allowed during the school day. All singing and playing of instruments will need to be done outside of the school building. Teachers have been very creative to find ways for students to learn and perform in this environment.

  19. Dismissal at end of the school day Dismissal At the end of 9th period, all students will need to return to their homeroom and place their desk shields on their homeroom desk. This is done so that the custodians can sanitize students’ shields for the next school day. Students will return shields to homeroom at 2:35pm and the bell will ring at 2:40pm as normal. Students must remain in homeroom until the bell rings. Once the bell rings, students are not allowed to congregate in the hallways. All students must exit the building upon dismissal unless you have an appointment with a teacher.

  20. Water Fountains Water Fountains All water fountains will be converted to water bottle fillers. We are asking that students bring a water bottle to school if they wish to drink water during the day. Normal fountains will not be available.
