Robust SuperPoll Protocol for IEEE 802.11 Wireless LANs Samegle Deprtment of Computer Engineering, Kasetsart Unversity
Agendo ❋ IEEE 802.11 PCF ❋ Single Polling Concept in Noisy Environments ❋ Proposed SuperPoll with Chaining Approach ❋ Performance Results ❋ Summary
IEEE 802.11 PCF • The PCF protocol is based on a Polling Scheme controlled by the Point Coordinator (PC). A station with data for transmission in the contention free period has to register first with the PC in the contention period.
IEEE 802.11 PCF • The PC maintains the list of registered stations and polls each one according to the polling list. Each polled station is allowed to transmit one MAC Protocol Data Unit (MPDU). • The destination is expected to acknowledge the packet right after its reception. In case the packet was not properly received at the destination, the source station will be able to retransmit the packet only when it is polled the next time. • PC controls the medium by broadcasting a Beacon which cent ains the CF Parameter Set Element. The Beacon will be issued at the rate specified in the Contention-Free Repetition Rate (CFPRate).
Single Polling • MS sends a PT to each MT in the BSS • Each MT responses with DT or NTS • Destination MT will response with ACK − If no ack receives MT will wait for a T to retransmit in the next
