2 Matthias Nowak 11th of June 2016 1 st of October 2015 around noon: Visit of the exhibition hall 26 to evaluate the possible buildup of a shelter for refugees.
3 Matthias Nowak 11th of June 2016 1 st of October 2015 around 6pm: the first 300 refugees arrived (six hours after the first visit)
4 Matthias Nowak 11th of June 2016 3 rd of October 2015 Malteser Berlin providing shelter in the exhibition hall 26 for 1020 people
5 Matthias Nowak 11th of June 2016 Duties: organizing food, sheets, clothing, etc.. . Additional tasks provided by volunteers and Malteser: Taking care of the children, providing german lessons, assisting in questions concerning asylum seeking process.
6 Matthias Nowak 11th of June 2016 18 th of December 2015: relocation of our shelter to the ICC with 600 refugees
7 Matthias Nowak 11th of June 2016 23 rd of December 2015: opening of our shelter in Neukölln, a former warehouse with 600 refugees.
8 Matthias Nowak 11th of June 2016 How do we do it: Employed staff of 28 people per shelter Additionally security, catering and cleaning More than 100 volunteers on a regular base www.volunteer-planner.org WITHOUT THE Volunteers, all additional tasks wouldn’t be possible.
9 Matthias Nowak 11th of June 2016 For the next years, our tasks are: • Integration work for our guests • Establishing face-to-face-sponsorships between volunteers and refugees as a boost for integration • Enhance Networks with NGO’s, neighbours, churches etc. to boost integration • Strengthen the children – they are the future for a “together”
