  2. MOWR Changes • Old Programming One condensed – Accel program- Move on – HOPE Grant Dual When Ready Enrollment (MOWR) – Old Move on When Ready

Why the Changes? • Too many different programs with different regulations/ guidelines/funding sources/ etc. • Eliminate the confusion for counselors, parents, students, and administrators. • A need for equal funding for all dual students no matter what college course they were taking. • A need to simplify and speed up the payment process for students and colleges.

  4. 2015 Legislation Move On When Ready Program (SB 132) New High School Graduation Option (SB 2) • High school students may enroll in eligible Requirements include: participating postsecondary institutions • Students complete at least the following while in 9th – 12 th grades state required high school courses or their • Earn dual credit equivalent: two English, two math, two science, two social studies, and any • May take any course -Academic and CTAE required EOC tests; one health and PE courses from the MOWR course directory course or… • Complete an associate degree, technical • May enroll in a Program (Associate diploma or two certificates in one specific Degree, Diploma or Technical Certificate career pathway that lead to industry of Credit) certification or license. • Awarded a high school diploma and college credential(s)

MOWR Eligibility Eligible students include: • Students attending public or private high schools in Georgia. • 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade students • No residency or citizenship requirement • Meet admissions requirements at postsecondary institution. • Must not have already received a high school diploma.

  6. MOWR Funding and Cost • Students who meet all eligibility requirements will receive a student-specific award amount to be applied to tuition, mandatory fees and books. The postsecondary institution cannot charge the student any additional tuition or mandatory fee costs for approved MOWR courses. The postsecondary institution must provide the required textbooks for the approved MOWR courses. How the books are provided to the MOWR student is determined by the postsecondary institution. • The aid is paid to the postsecondary institution. The award chart for Move On When Ready can be found on GAcollege411.org. • Impact on HOPE and Zell Miller Scholarships and Grants Eligibility – Credit Hours paid for by MOWR are not counted toward the Attempted Hours or Combined Attempted Hours limit for HOPE and Zell Miller Scholarship at the postsecondary level

MOWR Course Options • Students can take courses in areas including: – Core courses in English, math, science, social studies, and foreign language – Career, technical, agricultural and elective courses – Online and transient courses • Approved courses can be located in the MOWR Course Directory: https://www.gsfc.org/secure/dsp_accel_course_listings.c fm

MOWR Application Process • Meet with your school counselor to determine if MOWR is a good fit for the student, and identify a target date to begin MOWR. • Determine which college/university you wish to enroll in for MOWR. – Assess and ensure you meet the admissions requirements for the college/university. – Assess deadlines for admission and submit all required application components prior to the deadline. • Example: http://admissions.gsu.edu/how-do-i-apply/high-school- students/dual-enrollment-programs/move-on-when-ready/

MOWR Application Process Continued… • Upon acceptance to a college/university’s MOWR program, schedule meeting with the school counselor to begin planning MOWR course work and assessing 4 year graduation plan. • Complete the Georgia Student Finance Commission's MOWR Online Application: https://secure.gacollege411.org/Financial_Aid_Planning/Scho larships/Grants_and_Scholarships/MOWR.aspx – Three part application • Student/Parent completes Section A • High School (school counselor) completes Section B • Postsecondary Institution completes Section C
