Direct Restoration and Coastal Protection Fund project updates Fidalgo Bay Tidelands Acquisition Skagit Land Trust Legacy contract, funded by Crowley Barge 101 Settlement • Purchase of 450 acres of tidelands in south Fidalgo Bay • DNR holds the title, Skagit Land Trust holds the conservation easement, protecting the property in perpetuity Maintenance funded in perpetuity
Direct Restoration and Coastal Protection Fund project updates Dockton Park Shoreline Habitat Restoration King County DNRP Funded by the Dalco Passage RDA • Restoration of a salt marsh wetland • Removal of marine bulkhead, back‐beach fill, and 50 creosote pilings • Replanted with native vegetation Major work completed in 2016. Final report due by June 30, 2019
Direct Restoration and Coastal Protection Fund project updates Derelict Fishing Gear Reporting, Response and Retrieval Northwest Straits Foundation Direct Restoration: F/V Clam Digger RDA, 7/10/13 spill into Bellingham Channel This project was paid for using leftover funds from the Shannon Point Shoreline Restoration Project • Focuses on recovery of newly lost fishing gear in Puget Sound • Schedule for completion by 12/31/2018
Direct Restoration and Coastal Protection Fund project updates Washington Coast Derelict Gear Removal The Nature Conservancy 2014 Coastal Protection Fund Grant • Working with Quileute and Quinault tribes to remove derelict fishing gear along Washington’s outer coast • Scheduled for completion by 12/31/2018
Direct Restoration and Coastal Protection Fund project updates Baker Bay Stormwater Infiltration Project Lower Columbia Estuary Partnership Direct Restoration: F/V Titan 12/4/2014 spill into Columbia River, near Ilwaco • Replacing 40+ storm drains along Howerton Avenue in Ilwaco with stormwater infiltration systems • Concept pictured • Agreement active 8/15/2018 • Still in contracting phase
Direct Restoration and Coastal Protection Fund project updates Mud Bay, Sucia Island Salt Marsh Restoration Friends of the San Juans 2018 Coastal Protection Fund Grant • Restoration of salt marsh and pocket beach habitat • Habitat for juvenile chinook and forage fish • Removal of low‐lying road and fill to restore fish passage • Most work to date has used SRF Board funding
Direct Restoration and Coastal Protection Fund project updates Derelict Crab Pot Removal in Puget Sound, WA Northwest Straits Foundation 2018 Coastal Protection Fund Grant • Help locate and remove 550‐ 630 derelict crab pots throughout north Puget Sound, around Anacortes • Side‐scan sonar complete and initial removals in progress.

Direct Restoration and Coastal Protection Fund project updates McMurphy Creek Fish Passage Restoration Project ‐ Hutchinson Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife 2018 Coastal Protection Fund Grant • Removing and replacing culverts along McMurphy Creek • Funds to pay for construction materials • Construction complete, final report incoming
Direct Restoration and Coastal Protection Fund project updates Grayland Beach State Park Property Acquisition Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission Direct Restoration: F/V Privateer 4/15/16 spill into the Pacific Ocean • Purchasing 315 lots around a 42 acre inholding • Adding acquired properties to Grayland Beach State Park placing under direct stewardship from Parks. • Funds have been received by State Parks
